Home Sweet Home!

We traded in our bathing suits in for some snow and heading home 8 days earlier than planned. Although we loved every minute of our trip in SE Asia we wanted to spend our last week off at the lake. We'll try out mom and Harv's new snowmobiles, watch Derrick's hockey game, and relax at the cabin. We're hoping to get some snowboarding in sometime soon too! With our tans fading fast, we are both sad to leave our travels and excited to be back to everything familiar. Our cat, our SOFT bed, our vehicles and Saskatoon traffic, and most of all our families and friends are what makes this home sweet home!

Photos!

So we spent 11 days on Koh Lanta and headed on. We loved our time there and really felt we knew the island. Having a motorbike for a week, we explored most of the nooks and crannies finding so many cool spots. We rode elephants, took cooking courses, hung out with some great Canadians... Soaked up the sun.

Next we took a boat to Railay Beach. One side is resorts with the gorgeous beach surrounded by huge cliffs, the other side is not as nice resorts and little bungalos with backpackers, rasta bars, everything chill. It is mangroves and ugly beach... I still haven't figured out what a mangrove is lol.. I think its the swampy trees that are there when the tide is out, but not sure. This is the side we stayed at, but it is only about a 5 minute walk from one side to the other. We did a morning of rock climbing until Chris' hands were raw and i could not feel my arms. We saw tons of monkeys and beached jellyfish, and left on the craziest trip to the other side of Thailand to the Gulf Island of Ko Samui.

I could tell this story all day long and not be finished, but it consisted of tippy longtail boats where there were girls crying, and others popping anxiety meds, (seriously) i was worried about the jelly fish and our camera. Sweaty, crammed bus rides, long waits, more cramming into trucks, sweating, and then spending all night in the bottom of a cargo ship that besides alot of stinky travelers carried bags of rice, seafood, packages, and motorbikes. The people slept amongst this with dirty sheets and shady characters. We still don't know why the one with real bunk beds was left at the pier. This was a crazy experience, and i am so grateful to A. be alive, and B. to have had a beautifully hot shower once in Ko Samui!

So we're here in Ko Samui with more beautiful weather and beautiful beaches. We are beginning to look like we are a different race, and are truly feeling spoiled rotten! The time is flying by, and we will be home so soon! I couldn't possibly relay every day and story on the blog, but can't wait to tell some in person when we are home... but here's few pictures.
