It's so nice to get a call saying "I'm in town, want to go to the park?"from friends you don't see very often. Renee and Chris were both in engineering with my Chris. They got married and live in Calgary with all the other friends Chris graduated with. So it was a nice treat to see Renee while she was in town. And a bonus to play with Eve, the BandAid lovin', pro on jungle gyms, sweet little girl, and the beautiful baby Jonas..... An excuse for us to try out the amazing park down the street!

Yellow Fields and Hay Bales
I'm not sure what i find so captivating about yellow fields. I know little to nothing about farms which is kind of embarrassing when you grow up in the prairies. I know that those yellow fields are either mustard or canola. And i only know that canola is yellow because my husband told me so. But regardless, those vibrant yellow field contrasted against a gray sky or a bright blue one makes driving down our prairie highways something of pure beauty. Old barns, trains passing along as you drive, cattle munching... all things that just make it feel like home inside. Hay bales are something else that I just LOVE. Seeing them all rolled up and spread one by one in a field is something that I have always thought was so cool. I just get giddy about them. Seeing them is quite a novelty to me. My husband thinks its quirky. He went as far as to call it "creepy." But he did stop so I could take a picture or three and if you know my husband that is not something that happens very often. The last time he stopped for me to get a picture it was of a gigantic egg and I'm pretty sure he only gave in because i was very big and pregnant! haha Here are a few pictures of one of many summer prarie drives.

I heart weekends
A supper after a golf tournament visiting with new friends. A delicious meal. Seeing my husband shining in his element. The chance to win prizes. A drive to the lake with a sleeping boy. Our ritual stop. The peaceful drive up to our lake where my most favorite conversations often happen. Having our friends that beat us there and have to sit on a blaring alarm to muffle the sound hahaha. Playing a new game that I liked. Checking out some shops and having ice cream. BBQ. A Rider win. Laying on the dock spilling to a friend. Freezies. A great chat about charity and being honest. A hot hot day. A beach tent. A warm lake. A tan. Feeling back in the groove surfing. A bath with my boy. Getting a basement rented. = the good life.

My Baby
Well I just love taking pictures of my wee one... So when Chris is renovating and just wants us to hang out near him while he works what else can i do in an empty basement? It just doesn't get old. And neither does eating his fists!

Africa
Africa.....That is what you will hear stories of bubbling out of the mouth of my sister in law. She is so passionate about it. I can enter into the feelings of making someone's day from nursing and of seeing the need in a 3rd world country and bringing joy to another's life by giving even just a little from our time spent in SE Asia. But giving 2 straight months of your time and having the time to truly get to know the lives that you are helping is something that i have only witnessed through Tannis. I'm so proud that you went, and that you put your whole heart into it. You will remember those days forever. I'm prouder yet that after being home you didn't forget. You put on a dynamite fundraiser and sent those soccer jersey's for the kids. A job well done. That slide show brought tears to my eyes. Amazing what music can bring out! I had seen all those pictures before but it was so much more powerful when put to music. Well sista.... here are a few pics from the steak night.... And sadly... I didn't get any of lots of important people... Most importantly... YOU!!! You were running around busy the whole time and I never even got one..... SORRY!

A night in the City
We didn't make it up to the lake this particular weekend and I wasn't sad at all. The jazz festival was rockin and it felt so good to soak up some city summer nights in town. This night was my fav. Thanks D & T. Saba African restaurant was delicious and also where River gave his first HUGE laugh for Tami, then sitting outside with our latte's, and walking around with jazz in the air...... and our boy behaved so well. Whoever said parenthood wasn't easy this night was so wrong! (And i just had to stick in a pic in of River's valsalva manoever= poop face)
