This is what 2 whole weeks at the lake looks like...

Having Chris with me for two whole weeks was the best! Its the first time we've had two weeks in the summer and I think we will do it every year now if we can. Its long enough to truly relax and I'm still smiling thinking about it.

River liked it just as much as I did. If there was any doubt that he knew his dad, it is all washed away. He officially switched to being a daddy's boy on these holidays.... His face lights up with the biggest grin whenever he sees him and he would pass out before ever admitting he's tired when he's playing with dad.... I must say I was feeling a little left out at times, wondering if I would even be noticed if not for the need to eat from me! lol.... No it honestly warmed my heart. I would say my boys bonded to a whole new level....

This is what 2 weeks looked like:

A day at Candle Lake. Chris Helping Harvey Hardie, now that's a tongue twister, and me playing and hanging with my mom, auntie and uncle.

Our fridge quit... Food went bad.. but its a pretty new fridge.

Several days just the 3 of us. Nothing beats time like this. We went to a book store and I wanted Chris to read a fictional book purely for enjoyment... Leisure...... He bought Soduko instead. Although not totally what I was hoping for, seeing him playing it made me feel secretly satisfied.

Coffee every morning made at home.

Looking at home books dreaming up what our future place will look like.

My pots sprayed red to match my deck bed cushions.

River got his second tooth, started first swimming on the floor and then dragging himself across the floor wanting to crawl soo bad but he just can't hold himself on his knees... and he got a tad more hair....

We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary by driving back to Saskatoon, enlisting some awesome babysitters to watch River (who now refuses to take a bottle) and golfing a new course for me at Moon Lake which was so uniquely beautiful, and then had supper on a roof top patio that we can't go to with a baby........ A perfect date......

We celebrated my 28 on the 28th birthday twice....once early with friends... and once on the day with my parents and my brother, and my boys....... couldn't have asked for anything more.... I got to golf with my new driver and putter...... The driver works deadly! I am crushing the ball, but i can't say the same for the putter.... my putting is just THAT bad..... because the putter is saweeet!

We witnessed a beautiful friend of mine get married and felt so much love that day.

Spent a day in Waskesiu with torrential winds.... But I had an Olaf sunday and carried my boy around until i couldn't anymore.... Chris and Daren golfed....We had Pete's Pizza and amazing evrgreen coffees....my minty hot chocolate was superb. It was fun.

We spent 3 different days with Jen, Emery, and Scarlett...... learned to fish, got to surf and wakeboard, play games, stuff our faces, go for walks, celebrate my champagne day, and ooo and aww about how our kids are playing together.... a definite highlight of our holidays...

We had a BEAR in our yard... AND on our DECK... On TWO different occasions. I was terrified. Chris was off trying to chase it and get pictures like he is invincible... both stronger and faster than a gigantic hungry bear apparently.... So i was scared to go walk by myself and we didn't have a single camp fire.

Did I mention my brother spent a night with us. His first time to our cabin. It made me happy.

I HEART HOLIDAYS.

L O L A

Lola is a little second cousin that just steels my heart. She is thoughtful, caring, inquisitive, adorable, and River just LOVES her already. She is always mothering him, kissing him, worrying about him, and making him giggle. At the Goodsman family reunion this past weekend this water loving, bubbly little girl with her blond curls and red cheeks and lips captivated me. I'm here to share what I saw....... Lovely Lola.

T H R E E . P R O U D . G R A N D M A ' S

Not every little boy gets to have three Grandma's. (or two and an Oma :) ) And better yet 3 right near us! Each so very different, but the same in that they love River to pieces! He's the luckiest and so am I. The grandpa's are special too. But this post is for grandma's. Love you all.

Elk Ridge

Golfed horrible!!! But it was so beautiful first thing in the morning. And I can't complain when I get an offer to babysit so I can hit the greens.

M A R I N & M E

Its been fun Krista and I getting our boys together for play dates. For a while we were the ones who played while they were dragged along for coffee walks, shopping mall sprees, even one gross changing on Opa's bathroom floor, but these days its the boys who are playing. I hope River has as much fun growing up with his cousin...(second cousins i guess).... as I did with mine. Marin is FULL of energy so River can stay busy trying to keep up!

Pool Party

I met Heidi and Kristy when I moved and started at a new school in grade 6. Two of the three of us were best friends at any point in time, leaving one of us out... until somewhere along the line we realized we could all just be friends with each other and even have more friends! hahaha.... It's been sooo cool to stay in touch and have our babies within a year of each other. Felix and Brady are two of River's first friends, he just doesn't know it yet! Only Felix is a west sider.... Felix's dad says he will protect his East side friends one day! Play dates have been a hoot! (4mos River, 9 mos Brady, 10 mos Felix)
O and then comes Lindsay with beautiful Kendall, the little girl of the group! 3 boyfriends for her! An absolutely perfect mix of the two of them, mom who went to high school with us and dad also in elementary school with us. So here's to history... and to the next generation of us! and a great pool party.....

At F O U R Months

So we have had almost at 4 and a half months already with our wee one who is no longer this strange little precious being, but he is familiar and himself and so lovable. And so part of our family. The changes are almost unimaginable and it truly has been a blink. Blink.... no longer sleeping on our chests but wiggling and rolling on top of us. Blink..... no more wondering if he can see or if he knows us, he gives huge open mouth smiles from across the room when he sees us walk in. Blink..... A tooth. Blink...constant giggles and babbling..... Blink...... thinking, "will he ever be able to grab the toys on his car seat? to bash bash bashing them every day. Blink.... no more carrying a sleeping boy on my running around all day; now its "are you kidding me? sleep with everything to see, don't text on your phone cuz i wanna push the buttons" kinda boy. Blink... I almost sit and stand on my own. Blink... I know when I'm somewhere new. Blink.... I only want my mom past 8 pm and I will let you darn well know it! River has such a personality and it seems like it appeared overnight...... I miss my new born but this stage is so fun! Here's to 4 months!
