You Know You're a Parent When

You know you're a parent when......

As I recalled River's fit of teething/crying & choking last night in my head, I got thinking that I wasn't even bothered that I caught a huge gob of phlegm in my bare hand, and neither was Chris as he casually noted the quantity of mucous as large coming from such a small person. In fact, we were both relieved and almost over joyed to see the mucous that was previously obstructing River's airway and further upsetting and aggravating this gasping little one. He was ok and breathing and I would have taken a mucous bath if it meant he could breathe, and so I just began thinking of the things that occur on a regular basis that seem so normal now. I thought, wow you could write a book about it. So I thought I'd start to capture a few.

Husband: "why is his skin flaking off all over his face, what's wrong with him?"
Wife: pause to think.......then realize and respond...... "O nothing... that's just dried rice cereal, woops"
